The Common Signs of ADHD in Children

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD, is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by persistent patterns of inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. It affects children and adults, though symptoms often manifest in childhood. Screening involves comprehensive assessments that evaluate behavioral patterns and cognitive functioning.

The Common Signs of ADHD in Children

ADHD often manifests in children through noticeable signs. Inattentiveness may be apparent when your child frequently makes careless mistakes in schoolwork or struggles to sustain attention during tasks. They might seem forgetful in daily activities, often losing items or easily distracted by unrelated stimuli.

Hyperactivity is another key indicator. You may observe your child being consistently restless, fidgeting, or unable to sit still, especially in situations where expected. They might talk excessively or interrupt others during conversations, finding it challenging to wait for their turn. Impulsivity is a third facet of ADHD. Your child might act without thinking, blurting answers, or intruding on games. They could struggle with patience, having difficulty awaiting their turn in activities or during conversations.

Remember, every child is unique, and occasional displays of these behaviors don't necessarily signify ADHD. Call our office if these signs persist and significantly interfere with your child's daily life. ADHD screening in Glenn Dale and Oxon Hill, MD, at early stages can pave the way for effective strategies and support to ensure your child's well-being and success.

  • "I was in this place as a young girl. I wasn't bad but the people who had me in my family kept beating and raping me. I began to start running away. I had no one to protect me. I had gone in to Montrose medical place first. I was so scared but they kept me in medical until they could get me in the children's center.
My foster mom picked me up on Dec 2rth and bought me my first new coat. She and her family were so good to me.
There was a lasted at the children's center who have me a bible and looked after me mainly cause he knew I wasn't a bad girl there were just bad people hurting me."

  • "My daughters are 19 & 18 yrs old, they have been going here since they were toddlers also to the Oxon Hill location. I selected this practice because keeping your time off at work limited when u have children is important. Their office is opened until 7pm on certain nights. Which is great because a parent does not have to take time off of work with a doctor's office opened this late. There is never a long waiting time, service is prompt, friendly & kid happy!!! 😚😙"
