Specialized Children’s Asthma Care

This is the most common chronic disease in children. But don’t despair. With sensitive attention to your child’s health and proper treatment, most children can fully participate in daily life and sleep soundly through the night, without unpleasant symptoms. We develop individualized treatment plans for each child. We treat all types of childhood asthma:

  • Allergic asthma, which is caused by allergens such as pollen, dust, or pet dander
  • Exercise-induced asthma
  • Nocturnal asthma
  • Viral asthma, which is exacerbated by colds and respiratory illnesses
  • Persistent asthma

Our Approach to Asthma Treatment

Our specialists will examine your child and perform an accurate diagnosis. Extensive breathing tests will help us understand the cause of the condition. We will develop a personalized pediatric asthma treatment plan and teach you and your child self-care. This will help minimize or eliminate symptoms.

Constant monitoring of your child’s condition is critical. Bring your child to our appointment. We look forward to seeing you!

Determining Your Child’s Asthma Triggers

We use diagnostic tools adapted for children to create the most effective treatment plan.

  • Spirometry – breathing tests for children 5 years and older
  • Peak flow monitoring – equipment for home use
  • Allergy testing – identifying environmental triggers
  • FeNO testing – measuring airway inflammation
  • Provocation testing – exercise testing or methacholine challenges, if needed

Modern Asthma Treatments in Children

Drug therapy includes fast-acting inhalers for immediate symptom relief and daily medications to prevent symptoms. Nebulizer therapy is appropriate for young children or those with severe symptoms. Non-drug approaches include trigger avoidance strategies. We will also teach your child special breathing techniques. Sometimes immunotherapy may be needed.
